Adding the Naming Part for Kindergarten to 1st grade: 30 question slides with a type-in answer box, plus an answer key slide.
What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Distractors are silly on purpose ('The desk barked'), so kids learn to listen for what makes sense
- Every item is a real, familiar sentence about animals, jobs and weather, not isolated words
- One narrow job, so a child can master it before facing whole-sentence writing
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships
How do I get the files?
- The download link is on the order page the moment you pay, and in your inbox at the same time
- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed
- Wrong or broken file? Email support@pencillane.com and we fix it or refund you
Why get the bundle
- A bundle lets a child meet the naming part as flash cards, clip cards, task cards and an assessment, so it sticks beyond one worksheet.
The problem
The sentence that starts with a blank and a child who freezes
Young writers know what happened but forget a sentence needs someone doing it. The blank at the front feels like a riddle.
Starting from the verb
A child sees '____ barked at the cat' and guesses any word. Nothing tells them the blank wants a who, not a what.
Sense without a match
Choosing between 'The dog' and 'The desk' means asking who could actually bark. Many just grab the first option.
Dropping 'The' or 'My'
Kids write 'Dog barked' or 'Snow melted.' The little starter word that makes a naming part is easy to leave off.
Each page gives the action, hides the who, and offers a few choices. The child tests each one against the verb until the sentence makes sense.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Outcomes
Finishes a sentence by supplying who or what

- ____ barked at the cat.
- ____ melted in the sun.
- ____ swam in the pond.
- ____ rang at three.
- ____ grew in the garden.
- ____ baked the bread.
- ____ flew over the tree.

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Use it as a short sentence-building warm-up: read the card aloud, pick the match, say the whole sentence back.
Teachers
Fits a K-1 grammar block or writing station. Children self-check answers before they write their own sentences.
Early writers
Works for children who talk in full sentences but write fragments. The choices model what a good naming part sounds like.

Questions
Before you buy.
Does my child need to know the word 'subject'?
No. The pages use 'naming part' and ask who or what the sentence is about, which is easier for K-1 readers to hold onto.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
What age or grade is it for?
Kindergarten to 1st grade.
What if it isn’t right for us?
Email support@pencillane.com within 30 days and we refund the full $4.50. No form, no questions.
