Why get the bundle
- Plus-or-minus practice shows up in different layouts, from timed-feeling cards to games, which builds the habit of checking the sign each time.
The problem
Is that a plus or a minus?
At this age the sign is the smallest thing on the page. Mixed sets reveal whether a child reads it or just adds everything.
Ignoring the sign
Children see two numbers and add them. In a mixed set, 7 - 4 turns into 11 until they learn to pause on the symbol.
Counting from one every time
Counting up from 1 for each problem is slow and it makes the answer to 8 - 2 easy to miss by one.
Not seeing the two as a pair
Children who treat plus and minus as unrelated skills do not notice that 4 + 3 = 7 helps with 7 - 3.
Adding and taking away sit side by side on the page, so the child checks the sign each time. Within 10, the numbers stay small enough to picture, count and check.

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Do a few at the table, covering the sign with a finger and then revealing it. Say the story: two more, or two fewer?
Teachers
Use for mixed review once both skills have been taught, or for a quick sign-check at the start of math time.
Intervention & tutors
Mixed sets show quickly whether a child reads the symbol or defaults to adding.

Questions
Before you buy.
Does each page mix adding and subtracting?
These are mixed on purpose, so children cannot settle into one habit. If you want one operation alone, our Addition to 10 and Subtraction to 10 sets do that.
Can my child use objects?
Yes. Small numbers are chosen so counters, fingers or a ten frame can help, then fade out as recall builds.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 13 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
