Which Letter Comes First in the Alphabet for Kindergarten: 30 question slides with a type-in answer box, plus an answer key slide.
What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Pairs of letters, not a full song, so the skill is isolated
- Every question has two choices, which keeps early success high
- Gaps between letters shrink so the task grows harder gradually
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships

Why get the bundle
- Order is a skill that needs repeat looks. Flash cards, games and an assessment let you check which letters are still shaky and return to those pairs.
The problem
She knows the song but can't say if M or X comes first
Singing the alphabet is a memorized tune. Comparing two letters means holding the line in your head, and many children can only find a letter by starting at A.
Song, not sequence
A child who sings A to Z fluently may still have no sense of where a single letter sits. The tune hides the order.
Starting over at A
Many kids silently run the whole song to reach X, then run it again for M. It works, but it is slow and tiring.
Far-apart letters feel random
Letters in the middle, like M and N, blur together. Pairs with a big gap are easier to judge than close neighbors.
Each page asks which of two letters comes first. Gaps start wide and then tighten, so children move from song-reciting to actually judging where a letter lives.

Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Ask 'M or X?' in the car or at the table. Two letters take ten seconds and need no setup.
Teachers
Use as a quick check after teaching the alphabet song, or in a center for children who recite but can't locate letters.
Letter-order practice
Good for children who know letter names but rely on the song to find any letter.

Questions
Before you buy.
My child sings the alphabet perfectly. Is this still useful?
Yes. Singing and comparing are different skills. Reciting is memory of a tune; picking the earlier letter shows the child knows the order itself.
Does it use uppercase or lowercase?
The prompts are uppercase pairs such as M or X, so children practice with the capitals they see on classroom charts and name cards.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
