The problem
G or S: which one is farther down the alphabet?
Asking which comes last flips the question children practiced, and 'last' can be confused with the final letter Z or with the thing they heard most recently.
'Last' gets misread
Some children hear 'last' and look for Z, or point to the letter they said last. The word needs to attach to position in the alphabet.
Counting up from A
Without a feel for order, a child recites A-B-C until one letter shows up. The later letter arrives second, which feels backward.
Late letters are thin
Q, R, S, T, U get far less practice than A through F. Children are often hazy on the back half of the alphabet.
Every page pairs two letters and asks for the later one. Many pairs lean on the back half of the alphabet, where children usually have the least practice.
What’s inside
73 pages across 7 resources.
Pairing 'last' with its 'first' partner shows whether a child understands order. The bundle gives you both formats of practice, plus assessment pages to check.

US Letter 8.5 × 11 · PDFWho it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Pair this with the first-letter version: ask 'which is first?' then 'which is last?' about the same two letters.
Teachers
Use when children are comfortable with 'first' and you want to check that they really understand position, not a trick.
Back-half letters
Helps children who learned A through M well and drift off after that.

Questions
Before you buy.
Why teach 'comes last' separately from 'comes first'?
They sound like mirror images, but children often handle one much better. Asking both on the same pair shows whether they understand order or have a habit.
Do I need to know the alphabet song first?
Children should know most letter names. The page then asks them to compare two letters, rather than recite the song.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. 7 PDFs with 73 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
