What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Wrong choices are near-misses, so a child has to think about meaning, not guess
- Short, concrete words children already use
- Works as cards, clips or a slide deck, so the pairs get repeated without boredom
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships
How do I get the files?
- The download link is on the order page the moment you pay, and in your inbox at the same time
- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed
- Wrong or broken file? Email support@pencillane.com and we fix it or refund you
Why get the bundle
- A bundle spreads antonym pairs across card formats, so the same words come back until they are automatic.
The problem
'The opposite of big is... not big?'
Opposites seem easy until a child has to name one. 'Not big' is a negative, not an antonym, and some pairs have more than one answer.
Saying 'not' plus the word
Children answer 'not hot' instead of 'cold.' They understand the idea but have not stored the actual word pairs.
Close but wrong
Soft, thin or good can sit near a word without being its opposite. Choosing from several options takes careful thinking.
Pairs with a shared scale
Up and down are clean opposites. Big and small, hot and cold sit on a scale. Kids need many pairs to see it.
Each card gives one word and several choices. The child hunts for the word that is truly opposite, and the same pairs return in different formats.
What’s inside

Questions
Before you buy.
Are these pairs only for grade 1-2?

Is there a digital version?
Yes. The Google Slides deck lets children click or type answers, and it includes the answer key for the adult.
