Why get the bundle
- R blends take time. The bundle offers cards, games and an assessment so children read the same blends in more than one way.
The problem
Broom becomes 'boom': the r quietly disappears
R is a hard sound to make and to hear. Many children drop it or say 'w' in its place, so brake and bread lose a sound.
Dropped r
'Broom' becomes 'boom' and 'bread' becomes 'bead'. Both are real words, so the mistake can go unnoticed.
R sounds like w
Young speakers often say 'wed' for red. In blends, 'bwake' for brake is common and needs gentle correction.
Tr and dr sound like ch and j
'Tree' sounds like 'chree' and 'drum' like 'jrum'. The mouth shape is the same, but reading depends on the letters.
Only R blends appear: br, cr, dr, fr, gr, pr, tr. Words like brake, bread and broom help children keep the r in place.
What’s inside

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Make a growly 'rrr' with your child, then add the first sound: b-rrr-oom. A mirror shows the tongue move back.
Teachers
Use after L blends, or for children whose speech blurs r.
Speech & language
Supports children who say w for r, since reading and speech work together.

Questions
Before you buy.
What if my child says 'w' for 'r'?
Don't worry about speech. Focus on letters and sounds. If it persists, ask a speech therapist.
Are tr and dr included?
R blends include tr and dr. They can sound like ch and j, so children must trust the letters, not their ears.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
