Why choose this over a free activity

License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides

- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed

Why get the bundle
- S blends are easy to clip. The bundle offers more formats and an assessment so children keep the s in place.
The problem
Scarf, school, scale: the sk sound has more than one spelling
S blends start with a hissing s and then a second sound. Children often drop the s, or add a vowel so 'school' becomes 'suh-cool'.
Dropped s
'School' becomes 'cool' and 'scale' becomes 'kale'. The s is easy to lose.
sc says /sk/
Scarf, school and scale spell /sk/ with sc, not sk. Children who expect sk may stumble.
Added vowel
Children say 'suh-carf'. The s should link straight into the next sound.
Only S blends appear, such as sc, sk, sl, sm, sn, sp, st, sw. Children read words like scarf, school and scale with the s kept in front.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
Why do scarf and school start with sc?
The letters sc often say /sk/. Children learn that it's a spelling pattern, not two separate sounds.
Is st in this family?
Yes, along with sp, sm, sn and others. They share one hissing s at the front.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
