- Capital and lowercase are easier to remember when they show up in many ways. The bundle gives you sorting practice and games alongside the worksheets.
The problem
Is this A or a? Preschoolers see two letters as two different things
Children often learn capitals and lowercase as two separate sets. They need to see they are one letter in two shapes.
Same letter, two shapes
A and a share almost nothing visually. Children meet them as different symbols before they learn they are the same.
Look-alikes
c, o, s, v, w, x and z look nearly the same in both cases. Children have to rely on size, not shape.
Name, not size
Children often say 'big A' and 'little a', but the terms capital and lowercase take time to stick.
Each prompt is one letter and asks whether it is capital or lowercase. Children study the shapes and size, learning the vocabulary teachers use.

Questions
Before you buy.
Do children need to know all the letters?
No. They only need to see whether a letter is tall or small. It works with partial letter knowledge.
Why practice this if they know both A and a?
Knowing both shapes is different from knowing the words for them. Directions in class use 'capital' and 'lowercase', so the labels matter.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 7 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
