Why choose this over a free worksheet
- Every item is a short sentence with a name in lowercase, so the error is visible
- Gives children a practical editing habit, not an abstract rule
- Sorts and flash cards let kids handle the words, not just circle them
Printing, license and file formats
- PDFs, US Letter 8.5 × 11 in. On A4 choose “fit to page”
- One teacher or one household. Print unlimited copies for your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships

The problem
'We saw kate at the store' and no capital in sight
Children learn that sentences begin with capitals, then forget names need them too. A name is a special word, not just any word.
Writing names in lowercase
A child writes 'omar' or 'lucy' because they type it the way they sound. The rule for names is separate from the sentence-start rule.
Not seeing which words are names
'My best friend is omar' has a title, a relationship and a name. Children need to find the one that gets a capital.
Capitalizing everything
Once kids learn capitals, some capitalize every noun. They need to learn which ones are special.
Each sentence has a name written in lowercase, and the child picks the corrected version, so the habit of looking for names builds.

Questions
Before you buy.
Does this teach common versus proper nouns?
It focuses on capitalizing names. A separate topic, common or proper noun, teaches the sorting.
Are the names real people?
The sample sentences use everyday first names like Kate, Omar and Lucy in short, simple scenes, not real individuals.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. 5 PDFs with 52 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
