Cause and Effect for 2nd grade: 30 question slides with a type-in answer box, plus an answer key slide.
What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Everyday cause-and-effect pairs like rain, hunger and being late
- The 'because' check is a built-in way to test an answer
- Short items, so thinking is the work, not reading
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships
How do I get the files?
- The download link is on the order page the moment you pay, and in your inbox at the same time
- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed

Why get the bundle
- The bundle gives the same reasoning in several formats, so children see the cause-effect link across many situations.
The problem
'It started to rain,' so what happened next?
Second graders can retell events but often mix up which one came first and why. Cause and effect asks them to link two ideas, not list them.
Order, not reason
A child says 'We got wet' and 'It rained' as two facts. Saying one made the other happen is the harder step.
Plausible but wrong
Several effects might seem possible. The child needs to pick the one that really follows from the cause.
Reversing the pair
Some children give the cause when asked for the effect. 'I felt hungry' and 'I forgot my lunch' get swapped.
Each card gives a cause, like 'The alarm did not ring,' and the child picks the effect that follows, such as 'We woke up late,' using 'because' to check.

Outcomes
Links an event to what it causes
Reads a cause and chooses the effect that follows, using 'because' to test it.
- It started to rain.
- I forgot my lunch.
- The alarm did not ring.
- She dropped the vase.
- He ate too fast.
- The wind blew hard.
- I studied all week.

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Ask 'what happened because of that?' during daily life. The cards give a tidy way to practice at the table.
Teachers
Works as a 2nd-grade reading comprehension or writing warm-up, before 'because' sentences.
Reading comprehension
The same thinking helps children explain why things happen in stories and in science.

Questions
Before you buy.
How do kids check their answer?
They say it as 'We got wet because it started to rain.' If it sounds right, the pair works. The key also confirms.
Are there passages to read?
Practice is built on short one-line pairs, so children do not need to read paragraphs.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
