Why get the bundle
- Short o is easier to hold when children see it several ways. The bundle adds games and an assessment page so you can see if o and u still blur.
The problem
Cob, cod, cop: the short o that sounds like 'ah' in some homes
Short o varies by accent. Some children say it like 'ah', and others mix it with short u, so the sound needs a clear model.
O or u?
Short o and short u are close for many young ears. 'Cop' becomes 'cup' without careful listening.
Accent differences
In some regions short o sounds like /ah/. It's still the sound of o, but children can be confused when it differs from a.
Round mouth, round letter
Short o has an open round mouth. It helps to link the letter shape to the way the mouth looks.
Only short o words appear, like cob, cod and cop. Children get lots of repeats of /o/ in one place before it's compared with other vowels.

Questions
Before you buy.
My child says 'cup' for 'cop'. What do I do?
Slow the word, and look at the middle letter together. Pointing at the o and showing the open mouth helps.
Does accent matter?
A bit. Say the sound the way you do naturally, and be consistent. The goal is to connect the letter to a sound children hear.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
