The problem
Chest, change, torch: the c-h that isn't c plus h
Ch is two letters making one sound. Children who read c and h separately get 'kuh-hest' instead of 'chest'.
Sounding c, then h
A child says /k/ /h/ and stops. Ch is /ch/ as a single sound, so the letters must be read together.
Ch or sh?
Chip and ship, cheap and sheep. The mouth shapes are close, so children mix them.
Start and end
Ch can appear at the end, as in torch, as well as at the start. Children expect it only at the front.
Only ch words are included, with the digraph at the start, middle or end, such as chest, change and torch.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
Is ch always /ch/?
In these words, yes. Later children meet ch as /k/ or /sh/, but those come later and aren't in this set.
My child mixes ch and sh. What helps?
Say both with a mirror. Ch begins with a tongue tap, while sh is a smooth hush.
