Why get the bundle
- The bundle covers each digraph in several forms. Use it with individual digraph products to go deeper.
The problem
Shine, thick, chest, which: four digraphs that look like blends
Digraphs are two letters making one new sound. Children who learned to blend sounds try to say each letter, and the word falls apart.
Blending when they shouldn't
In 'shine', a child reads /s/ /h/. A digraph is one sound, so the blending habit gets in the way.
Four patterns at once
Sh, ch, th, wh and ck all look similar. Children need to notice which pair they have.
Sound by position
Some digraphs appear at the end, like ck in thick or sh in bush. Children expect them at the start.
Sh, ch, th, wh and ck words are mixed. Children check each word's digraph and read it as one sound.
