Division to 12 reaches the elevens and twelves, which most children have chanted far less than the other tables.
Facts that are rarely practiced
66 / 11 and 48 / 12 rarely come up in daily life. Children need practice to recall them.
Not thinking multiplication
66 / 11 asks what times 11 makes 66. Children who do not think of the times table start counting.
Giving the divisor
Having found 11 x 6 = 66, a child may answer 11, not 6. The answer is the missing factor.
Division facts go through 12, mixed with easier ones. Children use the times table to find the missing factor and check by multiplying.
