The problem
12 shared among 4: who gets how many?
Early division is equal sharing. Children who learn it as a symbol first often lose the idea of equal groups.
Sharing unequally
Dealing out 12 items, a child ends with piles of different sizes. Equal groups are the point.
Which number goes first
12 / 4 is not 4 / 12. Children mix the order when told to divide one by the other.
Not linking to times tables
12 / 4 uses the same fact as 4 x 3. Children rarely see that until shown.
Small division facts, like 9 / 3 and 12 / 4, are written for children to solve. Cards, flash cards and a deck keep the practice short.
What’s inside
16 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.
