Why get the bundle
- Fractions of a set uses division and multiplication together. Cards, bingo and games let children practice the two steps in many forms.
The problem
3/6 of 30: they divide by 3
Finding a fraction of a number takes two steps: split into equal groups, then take some of them. Children usually do one.
Stopping after the division
For 3/6 of 30, dividing by 6 gives 5. That is one sixth. The numerator says to take three of those groups, so the answer is 15.
Dividing by the top number
Some children divide 30 by 3, the numerator, and get 10. The denominator tells how many equal groups to make.
Big numbers hide the picture
6/8 of 96 is hard to picture. Making 8 equal groups of 12 and taking 6 shows why the answer is 72.
The wrong choices are the real slips, such as the one-group answer and the numerator-division answer. Children divide by the bottom, then multiply by the top, and check.

Teachers
Fits third grade after basic fractions and division. Use cards for centers and the color-by-code for review.
Fractions and facts
Draws on division and multiplication facts, so it reviews both.

Questions
Before you buy.
Are the answers whole numbers?
Yes. The numbers are chosen so each fraction of the set comes out evenly.
Should my child use counters?
They help at first. Moving to drawings, then to the two-step method, is the goal.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
