Why get the bundle
- Matching letters is a memory task that improves with repeat. The bundle gives you cards, games and an assessment so you can see which pairs are still missing.
The problem
He knows A and he knows a, but not that they're the same letter
Kindergartners usually learn capitals first and lowercase later. Linking the two takes memory, because some pairs look nothing alike.
Pairs that don't look alike
A and a, G and g, Q and q, R and r share little shape. Children have to learn each pair as a fact.
Pairs that look too alike
C and c, O and o, S and s, W and w differ only in size. Children who match by shape can't tell which is which.
Lowercase leads
Here the prompt is lowercase and the answer is capital. Kids see lowercase in books, so they may know it better.
Each item gives a lowercase letter and asks for its capital. Children practice the direction they meet when a sentence begins or a name is written.

Teachers
Use as a center after teaching letter names, or for sorting letters in small groups.
Kindergarten intervention
Good for children who know one case well and the other only partly.

Questions
Before you buy.
How is this different from the uppercase-to-lowercase pages?
Direction matters. This one starts with lowercase and asks for the capital. The other starts with the capital. Children often find one direction easier.
Is it for kindergarten or preschool?
It's pitched at kindergarten, where children are expected to match both cases. Younger children can try the preschool versions first.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 6 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
