Why choose this over a free worksheet
- Lowercase has many 'both' letters, so it's not all guessing
- Three choices: lines, curves, both
- Focuses on parts, not names, which helps with look-alikes
Printing, license and file formats
- One PDF, US Letter 8.5 × 11 in. On A4 choose “fit to page”
- One teacher or one household. Print unlimited copies for your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships

Why get the bundle
- Seeing strokes helps with writing and with confusing letters. The bundle gives you games and cards where children sort letters by their parts.
The problem
Is lowercase 'c' made of lines, curves, or both?
Looking closely at letter parts is how children tell similar letters apart. Many only see a letter as a whole shape.
Whole shape, no parts
A child may know b but not see that it is a line plus a curve. Parts are what separate b from d from p.
b, d, p, q
These four share the same parts: a stick and a bowl. Only the position changes, which is why they get swapped.
Strokes shape writing
Knowing a letter has a line and a curve helps a child form it later. Seeing the strokes comes before writing them.
Each prompt shows one lowercase letter and asks whether it is made of lines, curves or both. Children study the parts of letters, not just the names.

Questions
Before you buy.
Is this a handwriting page?
It's a looking page. Children study the parts of letters, which supports handwriting later, but they don't practice writing here.
Why lowercase separately?
Lowercase shapes are curvier and have more mixed letters, so the answers differ from capitals. Children get more practice with 'both'.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 9 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
