Why get the bundle
- Pairs to ten work best on the wall and in the hand. The bundle gives you both a reference and cards, so children see the pairs again and again.
The problem
7 + ? = 10, and the child counts from 7
Ten is the number children lean on for almost every harder fact. Pairs that make ten need to be known, not counted.
Counting up on fingers
To find the partner of 7, a child counts 8, 9, 10 on fingers. That works, but it never turns into recall.
Writing 10 as the answer
In 1 + ? = 10 the total is already shown. Some children write 10 in the gap because it is the only big number they see.
Pairs learned one at a time
3 and 7 feels unrelated to 4 and 6. Seeing them as a pattern, one up and one down, helps them stick.
Each card gives one number and asks for its partner to 10. A poster lines up all the pairs in order, so the one-up, one-down pattern is easy to spot.

- 2 and 8 make 10

- 4 and 6 make 10
- 5 and 5 make 10
- 6 and 4 make 10

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Fill a ten frame with 4 counters and ask how many empty squares are left. Say it together: four and six make ten.
Teachers
Use the cards in a kindergarten or first-grade center, and keep the poster up while students learn the pairs.
First-grade fact strategies
Making ten is the base for 8 + 5 or 9 + 6, so use this before adding past ten.

Questions
Before you buy.
Is this addition to 10 or number bonds?
It is the make-ten facts only: one number given, find the partner. Adding to 10 in general is a separate set.
Does the poster list every pair?
The poster is there to show the pairs that make 10 at a glance. Check the preview to see the layout.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 9 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
