The problem
18 divided by 3, but they say 15
Times tables and division facts are two views of the same thing. Children who learn them apart do double the memorizing.
Reading the wrong sign
In a mixed set, 18 / 3 gets answered as 21 or 15 because the child adds or subtracts.
Not linking the two
A child may know 6 x 3 = 18 but not use it to find 18 / 3. The link has to be shown.
Skip counting every time
Counting 7, 14, 21 for 3 x 7 works, but it is slow for 9 x 7.
