The problem
0, 1, __ : what comes next?
Saying the counting song is not the same as knowing what comes next. Children need to jump in at any point.
Only counting from the start
Asked what comes after 2, a child starts from 0 or 1 and sings up to it.
Zero is easy to forget
A run starting 0, 1 surprises children who start at 1. Zero is a number, not nothing.
Songs hide gaps
A child may chant to 20 yet skip a number. Spotting what is next shows what is truly known.
Short runs show the start of a sequence and ask for the next number. Children say the numbers and add the one that follows.
What’s inside
19 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.
What Comes Next: Numbers
Written for PreK.
Title to answer key
A title slide first, the answer key last.
Google Slides & PowerPoint
One .pptx file that opens in both.
Look inside
One question per slide, with a box to type the answer.
