Add all 3 together: 15% off every item here (code TOGETHER15 applied for you).
Order of Operations for 3rd to 4th grade: 30 question slides with a type-in answer box, plus an answer key slide.
What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Wrong choices come from left-to-right habit
- Poster keeps the multiply-first rule in view
- Keys show the correct value, so an add-first answer like 48 is easy to spot
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships
How do I get the files?
- The download link is on the order page the moment you pay, and in your inbox at the same time
- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed
- Wrong or broken file? Email support@pencillane.com and we fix it or refund you
Why get the bundle
- Cards, games and a poster show the same rule from different angles, which helps it stay when the problems get longer.
The problem
8 + 4 x 4 is 24, not 48
Reading left to right is the habit children bring to every page. With mixed operations it leads to the wrong answer.
Adding first
In 8 + 4 x 4, adding first gives 12 x 4 = 48. Multiplying 4 x 4 first gives 16, and 8 + 16 = 24.
Left to right feels right
Children read a sentence from left to right, so they solve it that way. The rule is different for math.
Subtraction after multiplication
In 3 x 2 - 5, multiply first to get 6, then subtract 5. Children who go left to right may try 2 - 5.
Each item has a wrong choice that comes from going left to right, so the slip shows. A poster keeps the order in view.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Outcomes
Solve by doing multiplication first
Multiply, then add or subtract.
- 8 + 4 × 4
- 2 + 6 × 4
- 3 × 2 − 5
- 5 × 2 − 5
- 4 + 7 × 4
- 8 × 6 − 9
- 7 × 9 − 9

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Underline the multiplication part before solving. Compare the answer to the one you get going left to right.
Teachers
Fits a fourth-grade lesson on expressions, with the poster on the wall as a reminder.
Math centers
Partner games let students argue which part comes first.

Questions
Before you buy.
Are parentheses included?
The set builds the basic idea: multiplication and division before addition and subtraction.
Is there a poster?
Yes. The poster lists which operation to do first.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
