Why get the bundle
- Patterns are easiest to learn with many examples. Cards and assessments show a range, so children go beyond simple alternation.
The problem
Square, square, circle, then what?
A pattern is a rule that repeats, not just a list. Children often continue a shape pattern by guessing or by switching shapes every time.
Treating every pattern as AB
Square, square, circle repeats in threes. A child who assumes shapes alternate puts a circle where a second square belongs.
Not finding the repeating chunk
Until a child sees that the same few shapes keep returning, they have nothing to extend. Say the pattern aloud to hear it.
Stopping partway
Asked what comes next, children add one shape and stop. Extending a pattern means keeping the whole chunk going.
Each item shows a row of shapes and asks for the next two. Children say the repeating chunk aloud, then pick the shapes that continue it.

Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Make a pattern from buttons and clap its rhythm. Ask your child to say it aloud and add the next ones.
Teachers
Fits a kindergarten or first-grade pattern unit. Cards work for centers and the check pages for quick assessment.
Early algebra thinking
Patterns are a first step to rules and functions, so children who see the repeat are ready for later work.

Questions
Before you buy.
Are these AB patterns only?
No. Some repeat in twos and threes, like square, square, circle, so children cannot just alternate.
Is color part of the pattern?
The patterns use shapes. Pairing them with color or sounds at home adds variety.

Can I print it more than once?
