Why get the bundle
- Er is easier to hold with variety. The bundle includes more formats and an assessment, and the ir and ur products pair well.
The problem
Letter, pepper, her: er is the quiet sound at the end
Er often sits at the end of a word, where it's unstressed. Children hear it as 'uh', and write 'lettur' or 'peppa'.
Er at the end
In 'letter', er sounds soft. Children hear 'uh-r' and don't know how to spell it.
Er, ir, ur
All three say /er/. Her, fir and fur sound the same. Children must remember each spelling.
One word, one syllable
'Her' is a short word with er. Children can read it as 'huh-er' if they sound it out.
Only er words are included, such as letter, pepper and her. Children see er in short words and at the end of longer words.

Questions
Before you buy.
Why is er so common?
It ends many words, like teacher and faster. Children meet it often, so it's good to practice.
How do I teach er, ir and ur?
They sound the same, so teach them one at a time. Then compare to see where each is used.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 10 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
