Why get the bundle

The problem
Skirt, whirl, fir: ir sounds like er and ur, and few words use it
Ir says /er/, just like er and ur. Children can't tell the spelling by ear, so they need to see it.
Same sound, new spelling
Fir, her and fur all say /er/. Children spell 'fir' as 'fur' or 'fer'.
Fewer ir words
Ir has fewer words than er. Children meet it less, so it needs focused practice.
Whirl
'Whirl' has wh, ir and l. Children read the wh, then stumble at ir.
Only ir words are included, such as skirt, whirl and fir. Children see ir over and over and learn it says /er/.
