The problem
Seven words in a heap and a sentence hiding inside
Second and third graders can read a sentence but struggle to build one from loose words. Word order, capitals and meaning all have to line up.
Starting in the wrong place
Given 'the / ball / brown / The / chased / puppy / red,' children begin with 'ball' and the sentence falls apart.
Missing the capital clue
One word begins with a capital letter. Kids who notice it have a head start; many don't look.
Describing words go before nouns
'Brown puppy' and 'red ball' have a set order. Third graders sometimes put the adjective after.
Each card shows jumbled words and the child puts them in order to make a complete, correct sentence, checking against the answer key.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.
