Why get the bundle
- Silent e needs many looks. The bundle includes the other vowels, and a mixed set, plus an assessment.
The problem
Skate, pace, tame: the a that says its name
A silent e on the end changes the first vowel from short to long. Children read 'skate' as 'skat' and wonder what the e is doing.
Reading it as short a
Without noticing the e, a child says 'tam' for tame. The e is the clue.
Pace and the soft c
In 'pace', the e also makes the c say /s/. Children read it as /k/.
Distance matters
The e sits at the end, with a consonant between it and the vowel. Beginners don't see the link.
Only a-e words are included, such as skate, pace and tame. Children learn to look for the e at the end before they read the vowel.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.
Silent E Words (a-e)
Written for 1st grade.
Title to answer key
A title slide first, the answer key last.
Google Slides & PowerPoint

Look inside
One question per slide, with a box to type the answer.

RTI & intervention
Targets the habit of ignoring the e at the end of a word.

Questions
Before you buy.
What does silent e do?
It tells the vowel before it to say its name. 'Tam' becomes 'tame'.
What about 'have' or 'give'?
Some words, like have, break the rule. Teach them as special words and keep them out of the pattern.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
What if it isn’t right for us?
