Why get the bundle
- i-e is easiest when you can compare it with short i. The bundle includes several formats and an assessment.
The problem
Ripe, pipe, dive: bit becomes bite with one letter
In i-e, the silent e turns short i into long i. Children keep the short sound and read 'rip' for ripe.
Rip or ripe?
The e is at the end, so children skip it. 'Pipe' becomes 'pip', and the word is lost.
Dive and give
Dive has long i, but give and live are short. Both look like silent e words.
Long i letter name
Long i sounds like the name of the letter. Children may know it from the alphabet but not from words.
Only i-e words are included, such as ripe, pipe and dive. Children see the same pattern again and again, with the e at the end.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
What are the exceptions?
Give and live break the rule. Teach them as special words so the pattern stays clear.
Should we practice short i first?
Yes. Short i words like bit and rip give children something to compare with.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
