Why get the bundle
- Skip counting by tens works well with 2s and 5s. The matching sets give children all three counts on one theme.
The problem
10, 20, 30, 31?
Counting by tens is where children first treat ten as a unit. Many fall back to counting by ones after a couple of jumps.
Slipping back to ones
After 10, 20, 30, a child says 31. Keeping the jump of ten takes practice.
The tens words
Forty, fifty and sixty do not sound like four, five or six. Children hear a new word and lose the pattern.
Seeing what changes
Each step adds one ten, so the tens digit goes up by one. Few children notice the pattern in the digits.
Each card shows a run of tens with the next number missing. Children say the sequence, listen for the pattern, and name what comes next. A poster shows the tens in order.
