The problem
5, 10, 15, 20: the last digit tells
Counting by fives sounds easy, but children lose the pattern when the numbers get larger. They also miss that the ones digit alternates between 5 and 0.
Counting by ones
A child sees 15 and says 16. Jumping a whole five is the skill.
The 5, 0, 5, 0 pattern
Numbers counted by fives end in 5 or 0. Children who notice can check their answers.
Starting in the middle
Runs like 10, 15, 20 need the child to continue without starting at 5.
Each card shows a run of fives and asks for the next number. Children say the run aloud, watch the ones digit alternate and fill in the next one.
What’s inside
16 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
Is there a digital deck?
Yes. A Google Slides deck lets the class count by fives on screen.
Do the runs start at 5 every time?
No. Runs start at different multiples of five, so children cannot just chant from 5 and have to pick up the pattern anywhere.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
What if it isn’t right for us?
