What’s inside this download
- 30 question slides, one question per slide
- A type-in answer box on every question
- A title slide and an answer key slide at the end
- One .pptx file — opens in Google Slides and PowerPoint
Why choose this over a free activity
- Uses the phrase kids actually write: said loudly, walked slowly
- Gives a concrete upgrade, not a vague 'use better words'
- Easy to apply to a child's own draft
- No printing — works on a laptop, tablet or classroom screen
License and file format
- One .pptx file; upload it to Google Drive to open it in Google Slides
- One teacher or one household. Use it with your own students, this year and next
- Sharing the file itself needs a separate license
- Digital download — nothing ships
How do I get the files?
- The download link is on the order page the moment you pay, and in your inbox at the same time
- Re-download from that link any time — no account needed
- Wrong or broken file? Email support@pencillane.com and we fix it or refund you
Why get the bundle
- The bundle gives repeated practice, so strong verbs move from the cards into children's own stories.
The problem
'Said loudly' when 'shouted' was right there
Second and third graders lean on 'said' and 'walked' plus an adverb. Stronger verbs pack the same meaning into one word.
Two words where one will do
'Walked slowly' and 'said quietly' are fine, but 'strolled' and 'whispered' say it better.
Vocabulary gap
Children know the weak word and the idea, but not the precise verb that replaces them.
Close but off
Shout, cry and yell are near each other. Picking the one that matches the meaning needs care.
Each card shows a verb plus an adverb, 'said loudly,' and the child picks the single verb that means the same, such as 'shouted.'
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
Do kids write their own?
They choose from options. The next step is replacing a weak verb in their own writing.
What formats are there?
Task cards, clip cards, flash cards, an assessment and a Google Slides deck.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
