Why get the bundle
- The bundle presents agreement in sorts, cards and an assessment, which supports children as they check their own writing.
The problem
'The dogs barks at night'
Second graders say agreement correctly in speech. In writing, the verb often ends in s no matter how many dogs there are.
S on every verb
A child writes 'the dogs barks' because they associate the s with verbs.
Singular verbs add s
'The dog barks' has an s on the verb, and 'the dogs bark' does not. This runs against what children expect from plurals.
Nouns that look plural
With 'my sister rides,' the child must find the subject first. 'Sister' is one, so the verb takes the s.
Each item has a blank after a subject. The child finds out whether the subject is one or many and picks the matching verb form.
