Why get the bundle
- A bundle puts the suffix on posters and several card formats, so children see how a small ending changes a word.
The problem
Jump + ing: adding a piece to the end
First and second graders can read 'jump' and 'play,' but 'jumping' and 'playing' look new. Seeing the ending as a separate part makes it easier.
The ending looks like a new word
Children treat 'jumping' as a different word, not as jump plus -ing.
Spelling the joined word
'Jump + ing' is simple. Writing 'jumping' correctly means keeping the base word whole.
Similar-looking answers
Choices like 'jumpin' or 'jumpt' look close. Children need to check the whole word.
Each card shows a base word plus -ing and the child builds the whole word, so the ending is a piece they can add, not a new thing to memorize.
What’s inside
