Why get the bundle
- Syllables are easiest to learn by doing. The bundle adds cards and games so children can clap, tap and count in more than one way.
The problem
Cat has one beat, but 'elephant' has three: can she hear them?
Syllables are the beats in a word. Many children hear a word as one long sound and don't feel the beats until they clap.
Letters vs. beats
A child might count letters in 'book' and say four. Syllables are beats, not letters.
Clapping off
Clapping a word needs rhythm and timing. Children who clap too fast or slow get the wrong count.
Long vs. short
A long word like 'strawberry' isn't always more syllables than a short one. Children often guess by length.
Each page gives a word and asks how many beats it has. Children say the word, clap or tap, and count, so the skill is heard, not guessed.
What’s inside

Who it’s for
Built for the kitchen table and the classroom.
Parents & homeschool
Clap names around the family: 'Em-i-ly' has three. It's a fun way to practice at home.
Teachers
Use at circle time or in a literacy center before blending and segmenting.
Early readers
Helps children who need to hear word parts before they can read longer words.

Questions
Before you buy.
What's a syllable?
A beat in a word. 'Cat' has one beat, 'ta-ble' has two. Clapping or tapping a chin on each beat helps children feel it.
Is it for reading?
It helps with reading and spelling long words. Children break a big word into small parts they can handle.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
