The problem
What did the puppy do? Finding the telling part
After first graders learn to find who, they have to find what happened. The telling part includes the verb and everything after it.
Picking only the verb
'The brown puppy chased the red ball.' A child circles 'chased' and leaves out 'the red ball.'
Mixing with the naming part
Kids select 'The brown puppy' or half of each. Splitting the sentence cleanly is the new skill.
Longer endings
'Ate leaves from the tree' has several words. Children need to see the whole group.
Each sentence is shown whole, and the child picks the group of words that tells what the subject did, from the verb to the end.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.
