Why get the bundle

The problem
Weak, cream, bean: ea has three sounds, and 'bread' isn't one of these
Ea says long e in most words, but it can also say short e (bread) or long a (steak). Children need to try each sound.
Three sounds
Ea in 'bean' is long e, in 'bread' it's short e, and in 'steak' it's long a. Children don't know which to pick.
Reading e, then a
A child reads /e/ /a/ and says 'eh-ah'. Ea is one sound.
Weak and week
Weak (ea) and week (ee) sound alike. Children must learn which spelling goes with which word.
Only ea words with long e are included, such as weak, cream and bean. Children see the most common sound first, then meet the others later.
