Why get the bundle
- Word families repeat naturally, so formats feel fresh. The bundle covers many families and an assessment helps you see which ones are secure.
The problem
She reads 'cat' but not 'hat' — each word is brand new
Without word families, every CVC word is a new puzzle. Children who see -at as one chunk can read a whole set at once.
Every word starts over
A child reads c-a-t, then h-a-t again from scratch. They haven't noticed the shared -at.
Rhyme isn't spelling
They hear that cat and hat rhyme but don't see the same letters. Linking sound to spelling is the idea.
Switching families
Moving from -at to -ig to -op needs a clear look at the ending. Mixed families test whether kids notice.
Words are grouped by the ending they share, so children see the same chunk again and again, then change only the first letter.
What’s inside
30 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
What's a word family?
A group of words with the same ending, like cat, hat and mat. Children learn the ending once and swap the first letter.
Is this just for rhyming?
Rhyme is part of it. Children also see that rhyming words share spelling, which makes reading faster.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
