Why get the bundle
- Short a families are the core of early reading. The bundle adds games and assessments, so children practice the same endings in several formats.
The problem
-at, -an, -ap, -ag, -ad: five endings, one vowel, a lot of mix-ups
Short a families have many members, and the endings are close. Children can read -an and -am, or -ap and -ab, without a close look.
Ends look alike
Bag, bad, ban, and bat all start with b-a. Children read the first two letters and guess the end.
Nasal sounds
Short a before n or m can sound a bit different. 'Can' may sound like 'cehn' in some accents.
Large word sets
Short a has many families. Children need to learn the ending as a whole unit, not letter by letter.
All the words use short a, grouped by ending. With the vowel fixed, children focus on the last consonant and spot which family a word belongs to.

Questions
Before you buy.
How is this different from the individual families?
This covers all of the short a endings together. The individual ones go deep on one ending.
Are these all rhyming words?
Within a family, yes. Across families, no, so children must look at the end of each word.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PowerPoint file you can open in Google Slides.
Can I share it with my class?
Yes — one teacher can use it with their own students, this year and next. Sharing the file with other teachers needs a separate license.
Do I need Google Slides?
No. The file is a PowerPoint (.pptx). It opens in PowerPoint, and in Google Slides once you upload it to Google Drive.
