The problem
-ed, -en, -et: short e families that sound alike
The e families have close endings. Bed, ben and bet differ only in the last sound, and children read them by the first letter.
d, n and t blur
Final d, n and t are quick sounds. Children mix bed, ben and bet if they don't look at the end.
E sounds like i
Short e before n sounds like short i in some accents. Pen and pin become one word.
Over-wide mouth
Children who open wide for short e say short a, so bed becomes bad. A relaxed smile gives the right sound.
Only short e words are included, grouped by ending. Children compare -ed, -en and -et and learn to read the end of the word.
What’s inside
28 questions, one per slide.
Students type straight into the box — no printing, no cutting.

Questions
Before you buy.
Which e families are included?
Words built around endings such as -ed, -en and -et, as in bed, hen and jet.
My child confuses pen and pin. Will this help?
It helps by giving many short e words. Pair it with the short i practice to hear the contrast.
