Why get the bundle
- -ad is one family of many. The bundle gives several formats of the same words, so the b/d choice is practiced more than once, and an assessment shows if it's holding.
The problem
Bad or dad? One flipped letter changes the whole word
The -ad family is where b and d meet. Bad, dad and fad differ only in the first letter, and b and d are the most-swapped letters in print.
b and d flip
Children read 'bad' as 'dad' because b and d are mirror images. In -ad, that swap makes a new real word.
Sad, mad and bad
Several -ad words share a mood meaning. Children guess from context instead of reading the first letter.
Final d is soft
The /d/ at the end is quick. Children may drop it and say 'ba' for bad.
Only -ad words appear: bad, dad, fad and more. Children read the ending once, then focus on the first letter, which is where the b/d trap lives.

Reversal practice
Useful for children who flip b and d, since each word hinges on that choice.

Questions
Before you buy.
My child reads 'bad' as 'dad'. Is that normal?
Yes. Most beginners flip b and d. The -ad family gives plenty of repeats with a real-word payoff for getting it right.
Are these all real words?
Yes. They're common three-letter words like bad, dad and fad, so children can check whether the word makes sense.
How do I get the file?
The download link appears right after checkout and lands in your inbox at the same time. One PDF with 11 pages. No account needed.
Can I print it more than once?
Yes. One teacher or one household can print unlimited copies for their own students, this year and next.
Will it print in color?
The pages are designed to print in black and white, so they print clean on any home or school printer and do not eat a cartridge.
What if it isn’t right for us?
