The problem
Grades 3-4 math: factors, fractions, decimals and remainders
Between third and fourth grade, math gets more abstract. Fractions meet decimals, division leaves remainders, and facts go up to 12.
Division with a remainder
7 r 3 confuses kids who expect clean answers. Remainder pages show what is left over.
Fractions and decimals
0.5 and 1/2 are the same, but they look different. Kids need to connect the forms.
Order of operations
Children compute left to right. Order of operations needs a rule and practice to override that habit.
The collection covers facts to 12, multiplying by one digit, division with remainders, factors and multiples, prime and composite, fractions and decimals, order of operations and measures.
